The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, Inc. is pleased to announce the return of the Plano Archaeology Fair!
This year’s fair will be held on October 19, 2019 from 10 AM to 3 PM. The fair will be held in scenic Haggard Park located in Historic Downtown Plano, 901 East 15th Street. Parking is available adjacent to the park and throughout downtown Plano.
This is a family friendly event and is FREE to the public! Our past Archaeology Fairs have attracted 300 to 500 visitors.
Activities will include corn grinding, rock painting, petroglyphs, storytelling, corn husk dolls, flintknapping demonstrations, excavation activities, and more!
The 15th Plano Archaeology Fair includes numerous activities and provides an opportunity for children to learn about early settlement of the region.
There will be two featured performances by the Bear Claw Singers, a local group of Kiowa and Apache performers from Oklahoma. In keeping with their traditional values the Bear Claw use their talents to celebrate their proud heritage through song and dance.
The Plano Archaeology Fair provides a look at both prehistoric and historic archaeology. Children participating in the excavation will learn archaeological techniques and how archaeologists interpret what they find.
Come join us for this exciting event!
